Suck it Up? I Don't Think So!!!

I hate bills!!! I know everyone hates bills. However, it is part of life. You pay the mortgage, car payments, utilities, medical things, groceries, etc. No big deal, you just deal with it. Until yesterday when I open up my latest Energy bill....I seriously fell to the floor...I was hollering "HUBBY!!!!!" you will not believe this! I say this is the largest gas/electric we have EVER had. I dreamt about it last night, I was a crazy person with the kids talking about being wise about using power, I am unplugging, turning lights off, etc. The thing that gets me is that our heat is never set above 67 degrees. We turn it down to 60 when we are not home....what gives?

New Practices that will happen: We walk around in robes, blankets, and use candles for light! (not really candles, but just making a point) We must cut down on video gaming...damn Wii Fit must be sucking up all the power. If no one is watching TV...off it goes. We must learn to entertain ourselves without sucking up energy. I hope next month is better because this really sucks! I am not talking a little higher, but $100.00 more than last month!

Oh yeah, those heating bills suck the big one! I have become the crazy one saying "Cold? Put on a sweater!" "Hey, who left this fan on?" But of course we had that power outage not long ago that had us freezing in our house with darkness falling... I do appreciate electricity. And it's headed for negative digits here in Kansas tonight. Darn this winter!

I am not to far south of you (just a bit over the Illinois border) and well with the cold temps and the snow, hubby and I have had bill bigger than usual as well. It is just the two of us and we are in a townhouse (there is a unit on either side of us). We are trying everything to keep our bills down, especially since hubby is the one working.

Our high bills are in the summer, usually July, August and September. Last year we had an electricity bill over $1000. I always figured that I would chose winter bills over summer because I would rather be cold and add more clothes than hot with nothing left to take off. (ha) I guess in reality it must be pretty expensive to heat a house too.

My water bill is getting me lately (not so much the power bill).
