Monday's Madness

I remember when my oldest daughter was starting school for the first time. I would get excited for her to pick out her supplies, shoes, and outfits. I use to dive right into her folders and read EVERYTHING!! Needless to say things have changed ALOT!

I received her packet from school a couple weeks ago...hardly looked at it. ( Bad Mom)

Took the kids Back to School shopping and I couldn't wait to be done with buying all of these supplies. Took the girls to get some new outfits....let me just say I am a sucker when it comes to cute clothes for girls. My son...well, he doesn't care what he gets. He hates shopping.

We are on our last few weeks of vacation and I want to get so much done. I can't believe I start work in 3 weeks. It has hardly felt like summer around here. It has been very cool. We have our nice days, but we really haven't had any summer heat. I probally used my air a handful of times. I think today maybe one of those times.

*** The Half Marathon in Chicago is in 40 days! I am getting excited and nervous all at the same time. I never thought I would be able to run that much. But after all of this training, I know that I will be able to run 13.1 miles. It won't be easy, but I will do it.
Yesterday I ran 9.5 miles and today I hurt a little. Next weekend will be a goal of 10 + miles. I have some smaller runs scheduled during the week. Hubby is now doing the half too. He is doing so awesome. ***

My running pace for that distance is about 9:30-9:40pace. So when I do another 5K race at the end of Sept., I should be able to kick some serious a$$!! I believe I could do an 8-81/2 minute mile pace.

This post if full of random thoughts...sorry about that. :)

AI Madness and More Nonsense

Thursday Thoughts

  • Saturday is my day of pampering and hanging out with the best girls ever! My 2 sisters and my Mom. We are getting a pedi, going to see the movie Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, and lunch. I am super excited!

  • Tomorrow is Danny Gokey day in Milwaukee. For anyone who doesn't watch American Idol, he made the top 3. I was a little nervous watching the results last night, but he made it!! I was so excited. I wasn't that thrilled with his performance on Tuesday, but still he is one of my favorites. I think it would be fun to go and see him perform at the Summerfest grounds and everyone who attends gets a free ticket to Summerfest. Now those of you who don't know what Summerfest is, it is a HUGE 10 day musical festival in Milwaukee. Not only top music acts, but food, and lots of beer. He is also singing the National Anthem at the Brewer game tomorrow night. Go Brew Crew!!

  • Making Mother's Day projects in my class. We painted pots, planted Marigolds, drew our Mom's self portrait ( they are adorable), typed out a poem, and filled out a questionnaire about their Mom. It was quite funny reading their responses to questions about their Mom's favorite music, food, clothing, friends, tv shows and wishes. Some responses were, My mom's favorite TV shows are all violence, musical singers from Elvis to Led Zeppelin, the wish that broke my heart and made me have a tear in my eye, is the boy who's Mom has ALS. His wish is for his mom is to walk, talk, and use her hands again. I felt like hugging him.

  • The weather is perfect today (at least right now)...not a cloud in the sky and temps rising into the mid 70s. I think this afternoon it is Science outside!!

  • Looking forward to Thirsty Thursday. I will do my run and celebrate with a Corona Light. I didn't celebrate on Cinco de Mayo, so I guess it is Siete de Mayo instead. :)

Where Was I?

Apparently I have been cooped up and living in a cave. I was talking to my Mom on my way home from work complaining about how the lines for the election are going to be ridiculously long and I have other things to do like run, coach my Battle of the Books team, make dinner for the family, and finally finish reading Twilight. Tammy she says I voted 3 weeks ago, so did Dad, your sister, and BIL. WTH? Why didn't I know about this? I would of voted. My mind is made up...why didn't anyone call me and let me know? So, I call my husband and ask him if he knew about this? Dah...it was in the paper and the news. Seriously I am thinking how could I've been so out of touch about all of this. Usually I am all over things like this.
I have come to the conclusion that in the morning I am running around like a crazy person getting things ready I don't have time for the paper. In the evening I either go to a class at the Y or go running. Finally, the biggest reason yet. I've been working on 6 grad credits and have been spending hours and hours writing papers, reading books, and typing out lesson plans that I don't watch the news anymore (very depressing anyways). Today, I finally finished my 6 credits and have sent all my materials to be graded. I am so thrilled to be done with this, I told another teacher today I was ready to do cartwheels down the hall. If she would of dared me, I would have done it. I am crazy like that.
My lesson learned that the next election I will vote beforehand and I will make sure to keep in touch with people who seem to know more about politics than me.

All in the Family

I love my Mom dearly, but I feel like I am turning into her OCD behavior of literally vacuuming myself out of the house. I remember as a kid we would shout at her and "Mom let's go!" She would be dusting or throwing in another load of laundry just as we would head out for a vacation or school or something else. It would drive me and everyone else in the family crazy. So here I am today doing the same things she has done and quite honestly still does. We tease her about it all the time. Why am I writing about this today? Well...
  • I had to clean the toilet before I left for work today...why? Husband is home today (took the day off) and I left him a list of "honey dews" and one of the things was to clean the bathroom...I secretly thought he would forget about the toilet.
  • I had to put in the towels in the washer before I left and literally reminded him at least a dozen times to put them in the dryer and even put a reminder on the list. I know I heard a yes dear.
  • I almost changed my sheets this morning on the bed, but held back...left the bed unmade because hubby said he would take care of it. I hope it is made...because it drives me crazy that the bed is unmade. It was hard to leave.
  • I was loading the dishwasher, putting dishes away, had to finally pry myself away and had to get to work. OMG!! I am going to start vacuuming my way out any day.
  • Another thing, I probally wouldn't be so crazy, but we are leaving tonight for a 3 day weekend in Door County Wisconsin for a Fall Festival. It has a lot of wineries...so can't wait for that. The Father in Law is staying overnight tonight and the kids are staying different places each night after tonight. So I had to pack their bags and get things ready and type out lists for everyone from bus times, to lunch ideas, soccer times, etc. ( I think that is why I broke out in zits on my chin...I tend to do that when I get stressed)
  • So after I leave tonight....I won't worry anymore...I swear I will relax and enjoy the wine, the beer, and the friends we will be with. I told Alyssa she could text me anytime. She was crying when I left this morning...I won't see her before I leave. She has a softball game tonight and won't be home until late. Funny...she wouldn't hardly hug me yesterday...we embarassed her at the restaurant last night. She was sinking in her seat. Emma and Brandon were laughing. Good times.
  • See what I mean...I am so ADHD myself...I type random thoughts. Have a good weekend! Oh...I'll have to let everyone know all about the good wine I tried this weekend. I am going running too. The area is so beautiful I can't help myself.

More Thursday Thoughts..7 year old style

I asked random thoughts this morning for our daily circle share. They could share whatever came to their minds. I started with......

  • I can't wait to buy a new pair of shoes this weekend. ( I made sure my class new that I love shoes. Christmas is around the corner and maybe a future gift card would be great.)
  • My mom bought me a magnet.
  • My Dad gave me a bracelet.
  • My cat's eyes look like glowing stars and coins.
  • I like football, pets, friends, and my baby cousin.
  • I use to have a fish named Nemo and Dori.
  • I hope to have a bunny to take care of when I am older.
  • I miss Hermann my dog he is dead. He died of cancer.

*****This is a condensed list. They love to talk about their pets and sports.******

Thursday Thoughts

Things that I am thinking about on a Thursday.

  1. Things happen in threes. In this case a lot of bad things have happened in our school community this month. Tragedies...a 9-year old boy hit by a car on his bike....still in a coma and still no change in his condition in 3 weeks and I pray everyday for him, a boy's father died last week at the age of 28, a house fire a few blocks from school just the other day...a total loss for the family ( the kids were at school when this happened...they heard all of the fire trucks.) You wouldn't think anything of that, except this is a small community and when there is fire trucks and multiples of them...you get worried. The students in my class were worried about the school being on fire. It is scary to think about.

  2. On a brighter note, I couldn't stop dreaming about CAKE last night. I think it had to do with Confessions post yesterday on bridal showers and having no cake to enjoy. OMG, I was dreaming of chocolate cake, cheese cake, eating cake while running, and teaching. Crazy....

  3. Did you hear that PETA wants Ben and Jerry's ice-cream to use human breast milk instead of cows milk in their ice-cream? That sounds absolutely disgusting. Now, I heard this discussion on the radio this morning. I haven't actually researched this. But in my spare time ( hahaha) I just may.

  4. One more thing, it is Thirsty Thursday! However, I may opt for a glass of water instead of a beer. I have a race on Sunday.
